What's Included?

If your Taxi will not start at home a Rescue Operator will come and spend up to one hour to fix it. If it cannot be repaired it will be taken to a local garage.

Roadside Assistance

If you breakdown anywhere in the UK, Isle of Man, Jersey or Guernsey, a Rescue Operator will come and spend up to one hour to fix your Taxi. Please note that European Cover is not available for Taxis.

National Recovery

Recovery is included if your Taxi cannot be fixed at the roadside. 1. Your Taxi can be taken to a local garage for a breakdown that can be repaired quickly allowing you to continue your journey in your own Taxi. 2. For a more serious breakdown, recovery to your home or your destination is also included.

Onward Travel

Alternative travel for the driver and up to 6 None Paying passengers, this can include car hire and/or emergency overnight accommodation.

The Vehicle is Covered

Anyone insured to drive the Taxi is covered for the breakdown assistance.

Discount at Renewal

You will get a renewal reminder one month before your policy expires and one week before as well, so you will know when your policy is coming to an end.

  • Roadside assistance – If you break down on the way to your passenger, or during their journey, we’ll come out no matter where you are in the UK and attempt to get you back up and running.
  • Taxi breakdown recovery – If our recovery operators can’t fix your vehicle for any reason, we’ll tow it to the closest repair garage. 
  • Onward travel – We’ll arrange alternative travel for you and up to six passengers – so they can still get where they need to go. No matter if you drive a taxi, a London cab or a minibus, you can rest assured that we’ve always got your back!

No, breakdown cover isn’t a legal requirement for taxi drivers, but it is essential if you want to make sure you, your vehicle and your passengers are protected at all times.

Breakdowns often catch us off guard, but with private hire taxi breakdown cover, you never have to worry about unexpected tyre punctures or flat batteries, for example, affecting your work and inconveniencing your passengers.

At Driver Guardian, we don’t currently provide breakdown cover for vehicles over 15 years old, as they can be much more difficult to repair.

We can also only provide cover for vehicles that have done up to 250,000 miles – so if you’ve racked up more than this, we unfortunately won’t be able to help.
